Introduction: the objective of the research was to map how Brazilian journals in the field of Education, indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), comply with the Principles of Transparency and Good Practices in Academic Publishing, a document composed of 16 principles and elaborated by DOAJ, COPE, OASPA and WAME and published in Portuguese in 2018. Method: the journals analyzed were obtained through DOAJ metadata extraction, applying the filter on Brazilian publications in the area of Education, totaling a corpus of analysis composed of 60 scientific journals. To map the analyzed journals, the 16 principles were broken down into 34 indicators, which guided the data collection from these journals' websites. Results: the results pointed out that the Brazilian journals of Education indexed in DOAJ have difficulties in meeting the principles related to digital archiving, the allegation of misconduct and ethics in publishing. On the other hand, they perform well in relation to ownership and management, governing body, publication schedule, access, and revenue sources. Conclusions: overall, the research indicated that there is still a need for journals in the field of Education to work better on the principles of transparency and good practices presented, seeking their adequacy and compliance.
