OCCURRENCE OF BACTERIA OF THE GENUS Salmonella IN GROUND BEEF COMMERCIALIZED IN MANAUS CITY (AM) BRAZIL
Abstract
Fifty samples of ground beef sold ready for consumption and bought in markets and butcheries in the city of Manaus (Amazonas), Brazil, were analysed for the contamination of bacteria of the genus Salmonella. Fram the 14 (28%) samples obtained fram markets, eight (57,15%) were positive for Salmonella and the remaining 36 (72%) samples obtained fram butcheries, two (5,55%) were also positive for the same bacteria, giving a total of ten (20%) positive samples, with serotype identification as S. London, S. anatum, S. agona and S. I 3,10:-:1,6, with S. london predominating.
