Abstract

From the analysis of the oenogastronomical column “Tintos & Brancos” (Red & White),published weekly in the section Paladar (The Taste) of the brazilian newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo, this essay raises some thoughts about the representativeness of the consume of wine, atopic that has attracted growing interest on contemporary society. Moreover, the work wants toshow the importance of journalistic discourse and its construction of meaning that transcend thecontent of texts for the diffusion of the lexicon of wine and the way of life of the cultural segmentthat the connoisseur of wine belongs. Wine is seen as synonymous of refinement and pleasure inthe popular imagination.
