Abstract

This research investigates the spectacularization of gender-based violence in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) television journalism, focusing on the transition from oral testimony to video records (CCTV). It analyzes how monitoring images operates the paradox between legal evidentiary materiality and television ratings. The framework articulates concepts by Muniz Sodré, Guy Debord, and Gérard Genette. Methodologically, systematic data collection (2020-2025) was conducted in media outlets (RBS TV, Record RS, SBT RS) using the "false month" technique and social network analysis (SNA). Results demonstrate media saturation, with 470 television insertions. It is concluded that exhaustive repetition in a loop promotes a "pedagogy of horror" that, while accelerating judicial response, leads to symbolic revictimization, transforming trauma into an asset of the attention economy.
