Politics and gender-based violence
Deepfakes as a tool of gender-based violence in the 2022 and 2024 elections

This paper analyzes the use of deepfakes in Brazilian politics based on situations that occurred during the 2022 and 2024 elections, focusing on their democratic implications and the gendered effects associated with these practices. Drawing on a qualitative and analytical-interpretative approach, the study proposes a conceptual model that highlights the use of these technologies as tactics of disinformation and gender-based political violence, particularly through the sexualization, defamation, and intimidation of women in politics.
