This article investigates the patterns of manipulation in three news stories from the Brasil Paralelo website that feature religious influencer Frei Gilson and attribute the position of "enemy of the Christian faith" to the political left. Based on Perseu Abramo's (2016) patterns of manipulation—concealment, fragmentation, inversion, and induction—a qualitative content analysis (Bardin, 2010) is conducted to understand how such discursive strategies construct narratives that reinforce Dominion Theology and foster political and religious polarization in the Brazilian digital environment. The results show that the news stories omit critical information, decontextualize left-wing statements, fragment facts to favor the conservative narrative, and invert causes and effects by blaming the left for alleged attacks on the Christian faith.
