Comparison among Cytological Lamina of Bronchoalveolar Lavage of Dogs of Shelter to Fresh and Conserved in Formol
Abstract
The bronchoalveolar lavage in dogs is a diagnosis method recommended in cases of illnesses of inferior breathing treatment, where routine exams didn’t establish a conclusive diagnosis. The exam bases on the cytological analysis and making of lamina with the material a fresh, in other words, soon after the collection; what can make unfeasible the technique in cases of difficult access to the specialized laboratories. For that, it is done necessary a middle of conservation of the samples, increasing the time of useful life of the material to be analyzed. Like this, it is took the bronchoalveolar lavage in fourteen healthy dogs, without defined race. The samples were separate in two brackets, the first made to fresh for sedimentation in Suta camera, and the second processed one week later, with the sample conserved in formol. Both laminas were coloured for the technique of fast coloration, known as Panótico. It was evaluated the infused volume and the recovered volume, the macroscopic aspect, the counting of cells nucleused, the differential analysis of cells and the descriptive analysis of the laminas as for the cellularity, mucus presence, erythrocytes, leukocytes and cells, complete or degenerate. The statistical analysis was accomplished with test t, for samples paired with p<0.05. Comparing the methods, were found increase in the amount of lymphocytes and decrease of the macrophages number in the samples conserved in formol. The other observations were similar in both groups. Therefore, the conservation of the material of the bronchoalveolar lavage of dogs in formol, during one week, preserved the cells, turning viable the technique of the bronchoalveolar lavage for the doctor that it is distant of the laboratory.
