Using the book "Doctrine for children" of Raimundo Lúlio, this paper seeks to understand the instructions for the first education of children, even in the family environment, since attending a school or receiving an instructor characterizes one of the stages of formal education. Before reaching the appropriate age, the child informally receives his or her first education, mediated by the surrounding adults. Attitudes such as receiving, caring for, caring for and educating were even questioned if they really existed during the Middle Ages. From this point of view this study conducts a bibliographical debate reporting various norms and cares of medieval society in relation to childhood. brief description of the formal education system of the region studied. In this way, it is possible to understand that the medieval child must be protected, respected and educated from the earliest years of life.
