Abstract

As crenças ambientais são construtos importantes para os estudos das relações pessoa-ambiente, visto que as crenças orientam os comportamentos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar as crenças ambientais presentes em jovens engajados em coletivos socioambientais. Os participantes integravam diferentes coletivos socioambientais de três cidades da região metropolitana de Manaus/AM, Brasil. Foram no total 19 jovens, com idades entre 16 e 29 anos, em sua maioria estudantes universitários (de graduação e de pós-graduação). Eles responderam a um questionário com perguntas sobre o seu perfil e uma escala de crenças ambientais. Os resultados mostraram que esses jovens têm crenças predominantemente ecocêntricas, voltadas para a proteção da natureza e que os orientam a ter mais comportamentos de cuidado com o ambiente. O engajamento dos jovens nos coletivos e o contato com outras pessoas interessadas na causa ambiental ajudaram a fortalecer seu comportamento em relação ao cuidado ambiental e a crenças ambientais pessoais ligadas a comportamentos desse tipo.
