Abstract

This article analyses the context in which the first chronicles on the
battle of Alcácer Quibir appeared in the western world, as well as discusses
the dialogical character present in the elaborations of those narratives.
It also indicates point some circulation routes that some versions took
between the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
