Abstract

This text discusses abortive practices and the medical outlook on the
women involved in these cases. It also refers to the consolidation of the medical knowledge on female body, the gestation and the abortion. The main goal of this paper is not only the analysis of the multiple discourses given by medical professionals related to the abortive practices, but also some of the possible ways which women and doctors found to eliminate the pregnancy. All the medical sources refer to the period between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century from several superior teaching institutions.
