Abstract

This article presents the results of a research study that aimed to provide an overview of scientific productions related to territorial approaches to tourism in Brazilian coastal areas between the years 2008 and 2019, which predates the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodological procedure involved conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The Start software (LaPES/UFSCAR) and Microsoft Excel (2021) were used for data collection, systematization, and analysis. Out of the 277 articles retrieved, 42 comprised the final corpus of the review. The obtained results revealed that the fields of Geography and Tourism are the most representative in terms of scientific article production on the subject at hand. The two standout years in production are 2011 and 2018. There was an observed concentration of publications in specific journals, including the Brazilian geography journal RA’EGA and the Argentine journal Estudios y Perspectivas en Turismo. At the regional level, attention was given to the reviewed studies in the Northeast and South regions of Brazil. These regions aroused greater interest among researchers, likely due to a combination of the relevance of their coastlines in territorial formation and the dimension of tourism in their coastal zones. The research highlights the strategic role of territorial tourism studies in Brazilian coastal areas, while also providing insights into the profile of this scientific production.
