Representation vs. Representativity: feminist studies in Brazil in the postgraduation

The international theoretical field is marked by cysheteropatriarchy and, as such, customarily segregates feminist, sexuality and gender studies as a whole. Thinking about the problem that the Western heritage leaves for the discipline and for the studies of International Relations in Brazil, we aim to analyze the Master's Programs (PPGRIs) in this area in Brazilian federal and state universities, in order to observe issues such as female representation and representation, as well as raising a debate about the students' productions considering the intersectionality between gender and nationality. To this end, the adopted methodology was qualitative and the methods used in the production were the narrative review, with a special focus on the concepts of intersectionality, representation and representation, as well as the analysis of data collected essentially on the pages of graduate programs and on public platforms. As main results, we found the discrepancy between the number of internationalist researchers in the PPGRIs and gender researches, a situation in which only 9.83% of the students research themes related to gender. Even so, as a pleasant surprise, we found that 49.55% of the student staff of the master's programs at public institutions is made up of women and that their research is part of the most diverse areas, with foreign policy and international actors being the one that has greater female participation.
