Democracia e organizações internacionais regionais: uma análise do relacionamento entre a ASEAN e Mianmar

Resumo

O objetivo do presente estudo é realizar uma investigação sobre a atuação da ASEAN em torno da crise política vivenciada em Mianmar, com análise detida em torno do golpe militar de 2021. A metodologia da pesquisa é o Estudo de Caso e para atingir o objetivo recorremos à revisão bibliográfica da literatura especializada e à análise documental primária de arquivos disponíveis nos websites da organização e dos Ministérios das Relações Exteriores dos países pertencentes à associação. A partir da análise, pudemos concluir que a ASEAN tem realizado uma pressão declaratória por meio de comunicados, incoerentes e contraditórios, caracterizados como insuficientes para deter o retrocesso “democrático” em Mianmar e permitir um retorno à “normalidade” da política doméstica.
