EVALUATION OF CADMIUM, LEAD, CHROMIUM AND NICKEL CONTENTS IN BASIC FOOD BASKET

Abstract


It was analysed the contents of cadmium, lead, chromium and nickel on food acquired in Curitiba, Pr (Brazil) by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results showed that the analysed samples were within the limits by Brazilian legislation for cadmium and nickel, demonstrating that they could be consumed. Some products presented higher leveI of lead and chromium than the legislation limits. The contents of cadmium, lead, chromium and nickel were within the scale of variation reported by several authors from other countries.
