Text referring to the written test presented by the author in the Free Teaching Competition at the School of Physical Education and Sport of the University of São Paulo on December 1, 2022. I initially contextualize what I understand to be the domain of study and intervention in the field of Physical Education. In the sequence, I seek to outline some of the sociocultural dimensions of human movement as a singular phenomenon and field of investigation, with the Brazilian reality as a backdrop, more precisely some lines of development of this subarea in the country.
Keywords: Physical Education; Sociocultural studies of human movement; Science.
