The professional era of football in Colombia started on August 15, 1948. The football era in El Dorado began on June 10, 1949, starting one of the most exciting eras in the history of football in Colombia. Among the factors that led to live this so unique time in Colombian sport, we can highlight the following: The celebration of the first professional football championship after the events of April 9, 1948 that reflected the need to alleviate the social tension and the dynamism of the government that time. Management rupture between the Colombian Football Association and the newly formed professional football league would allow developing a championship hiring the best figures of international football, thus starting what was called "Piracy in football." Combines the internal and external situation, where a players' strike in Argentina makes its presence in the Colombian professional championship. These are some of the factors that enter figurational shape the framework of what was this period of football in Colombia between 1949 and 1954.
