Abstract

Os árbitros são os responsáveis por fazer cumprir as regras das modalidades esportivas. Especificamente no caso do futebol, dada sua importância no cenário brasileiro e mundial, as decisões da equipe de arbitragem tomam maiores proporções e repercussões. Buscamos neste ensaio apresentar como está estruturada a legislação e as diretrizes esportivas acerca da atuação e da formação do árbitro de futebol no Brasil e de que maneira ela ocorre na prática, buscando demonstrar as etapas a serem cumpridas e os conhecimentos e exigência da função. A ausência da regulamentação da profissionalização implica, em muitos casos, na necessidade de cumprir uma dupla jornada. Por fim, destacamos a necessidade de padronização na formação e a regulamentação da profissionalização, as quais poderiam trazer melhores condições de atuação destes agentes e, consequentemente, qualidade ao futebol.
