Este artigo enfoca dois elementos bíblicos relevantes para uma compreensão bíblica do lazer: o princípio do Sabbath e o conceito de descanso. O Sabbath e o descanso não podem ser considerados lazer, mas fornecem material para desenvolver uma compreensão cristã do lazer. Eles ilustram que uma compreensão bíblica do lazer abrange tanto um ritmo de vida (uma dimensão quantitativa do lazer) quanto a qualidade de vida que Deus oferece aos humanos (uma dimensão qualitativa do lazer).
