Abstract

A obesidade e a saúde são temas que geram conflitos dentro do campo da Educação Física brasileira. Diante disso, o presente artigo tem como objetivo tecer algumas reflexões sobre o conceito de saúde e os imperativos alinhados a ele, bem como verificar como a obesidade vem sendo abordada por diversos setores da sociedade brasileira, inclusive nos programas governamentais. Para isso, apropriou-se de fontes de pesquisa documental e bibliográficas, as quais se constituem no formato de peças publicitarias, documentos oficiais, sites oficiais e a literatura acadêmica da área. Diante dos achados da pesquisa, considera-se relevante o ponderamento em ambos os lados do discurso sobre saúde e obesidade.
