The article makes a proposal on how to study the sports clubs in Chile. Its has two parts. The first one is the theoretical one and raises the approach of the clubs in the context of other sport organisations and in society, their constitutive features and their legal and administrative framework. The second part is the operationalisation of the research. Dimensions, variables and indicators are presented. A survey is presented as the most appropriated method to conduct the research. Some orientations about the questionnaire are given. To finish some remarks about the sample and the field work are done. The conclusion is about the contribution of such a study to the improvement of the situation of sports clubs in the country.
