Abstract

This article discusses the sport as a social phenomenon, the array of socialization and transmission of values, forms of sociability, a tool for education and discrimination. The sport represents the country's identity as a spectacle ritual. Through the Habermasian methodology, including the sport as a phenomenon and a social relationship is possible to understand this object by its characteristic of systemic complexity of society. The understanding of the processes of secularization, rationalization, civilization and distinction contributed to analyze the problems that affect sport and its social insertion. However, these contents should be expanded to the spontaneous sociability and social role of sport in World of Life. The conclusion of this paper is to consider the inclusion of sport in society in different ways, economy, culture, performance, education and politics. The sport incorporates all these elements in greater or lesser degree depending on the purpose of practice and the sense that the subject gives to the sport.
