Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is  original and unpublished; have a scientific design; fit within biological sciences; present a clear and concise scientific writing; and not show signs of plagiarism, undeclared conflicts of interest, or other ethical violations.

  • The author guidelines were strickly followed.

  • Two recommended reviewers names and contacts were provided.

Author Guidelines

All manuscripts must present:
- Title in English and Portuguese
- Authors' name, with institution, e-mail and ORCID
- Abstract in English and Portuguese
- Keywords in English and Portuguese
- Acknowledgements
- References

- Page and line numbering

We advise authors who already have manuscripts edited according to the rules of other journals, but who wish to submit to the Minutes to consult the Editor for submissions in other formats.

Original articles, inventories and taxonomy must include the following items: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion. There is no page limit.

Inventories must present the deposit of the witness material in collections (preferably registered in SiBBr) and mention the taxonomists who identified the material.
Taxonomy articles must adhere to the Nomenclature Codes. Taxonomic acts with animals must be registered at Zoobank between acceptance and proofreading.

Scientific notes should not contain other sections. The original must contain a maximum of 10 pages including references.

Reviews should contain the following items: Introduction, [sections named after the authors], Conclusion, Acknowledgments and References. There is no page limit.

Illustrations and photographs must have a resolution of 300 DPI and presented separately. Images on boards must be broken down with letters (A, B, C, etc) in the lower right corner of each one. Use Arial font in the images. Images of organisms must be scaled. The final figure must be in JPG.

Tables should come at the end of the text, after the references, titles above (Table 1, Table 2, etc). Put them in the order they are cited in the text.
Include the captions of the figures also at the end of the text (Figure 1, Figure 2), preferably in the order they appear in the text. Citing in the text as Fig. 1, Figs. 1-2, etc.

Short manuscripts with new observations or records.

Section — Biodiversity, thretned species and sustainability in Paraná state (in debate)

Listas de espécie, levantamentos, registros históricos para localidades, UCs, municípios e estados.

Os espécimes devem ser identificados por especialistas e depositados em coleção biológica quando for o caso.

Licenças e autorizações de coleta devem ser informados.

Opiniões (Opinions)

Opiniões baseadas em ciência sobre temas atuais envolvendo a biologia, incluindo legislação, políticas públicas, epistemologia, práticas, etc. Os autores devem ter produção científica condizente. Antes da submissão a Equipe Editorial deve ser consultada.

Opinions on policies in science, on related topics, public inclusion, epistemology, practices, etc. Authors must have a suitable scientific production. Before submission, the Editorial team must be consulted.

Metodologia (Methodology)

Adaptações e novas metodologias, protocolos e afins.

Adaptations and new methodologies, protocols and alike.

Resenhas (Book Reviews)

Resenhas críticas de livros, guias e manuais de amplo interesse.

Revisões (Reviews)

Revisões temáticas atuais e abrangentes.

Taxonomia (Taxonomy)

Descrições de novas espécies e outros atos nomenclaturais, observando os Códigos de Nomenclatura. Para animais os autores devem registrar os atos no Zoobank após o aceite.

Privacy Statement

All versions of the manuscripts could be deposited in an institutional or other repository of the author’s choice. Taxonomy manuscripts should avoid those pratices to avoid nomina nuda.
