FIRST RECORD OF A NATURAL NEST OF THE GENUS Oxytrigona Cockerell (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini) IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL

A natural nest of Meliponini, belonging to the genus Oxytrigona, was found at the fork of the trunk of a Ficus eximia Schott (Moraceae) tree, located in the riparian forest of a rural property in Mampituba, a municipality in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The species was identified as Oxytrigona cagafogo (Müller, 1874), and the nest exhibits an external architecture with typical characteristics to other species within the genus.
