Abstract

Os gêneros Sternechus Schoenherr, 1826 e Tylomus Schoenherr,
1826 da tribo Sternechini, como definidos até o momento, reúnem
grande miscelânea de formas sem haver uma clara separação entre
ambos. Uma reclassificação a nível genérico para a tribo foi proposta
por ROSADO-NETO (1996, não publicado) onde o autor estabeleceu
vários gêneros e combinações novas, e algumas sinonímias foram
consideradas. Para acomodar um determinado grupo de espécies,
foi atribuído o nome de Bondarius a um desses gêneros novos, cuja
diagnose é apresentada a seguir. O gênero fica composto por oito
espécies já conhecidas, incluindo um novo sinônimo. Ilustrações,
distribuição geográfica, relação dos exemplares examinados,
instituições e pesquisadores que fizeram empréstimos, bem como
descrições de várias espécies novas serão relacionados na revisão
desse grupo, cujo processo está em fase final de conclusão. Os
demais gêneros válidos ou reconhecidos como novos estão sendo
revisados e cujas publicações deverão ocorrer em breve.
