Trochleoplasty for resection associated with the transposition of the tibial tuberosity and overlapping of the fascia lata for treatment of the patellar luxation in dogs

In this retrospective study is described the experience with the composed surgical technique of trocleoplastic for resection associated with the transposition of the tibial tuberosity and overlapping of the fascia lata in the treatment of the patellar luxation. The animals had been directed to the Service of Orthopedic of the Hospital Unit for Animals of Company of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná, Câmpus São José dos Pinhais. Being 27 adults dogs, majority of females (16), with age varying of six months at seven years. Of theses, 21 described medial patellar luxation (77,78%), six (22,22) described lateral patellar luxation; of the total analysed 15 (55,55%) described unilateral patellar luxation, being that eleven (73,33%) was medial e four (26, 67%) was lateral; of the cases bilateral 12 of total analysed (44,45%), ten (83,33%) was medial and two (16,67%) was lateral. In the orthopedic examination, was percepted signals of the pain, laminess and physical abnormalities of the affected members. The return of function of the affected member occurred in a period of one week to four months of after-surgical. The surgical reconstitution was of easy execution and the gotten results in this retrospective study allow to conclude that the employed surgical techniques is appropriate for patellars luxations, than medial as lateral.
