Abstract

Henry E. Allison’s work is part of what we can call analytical Kantism, a recovery of central elements of Kantian thought in an analytical philosophical context that began in 1966 with Strawson’s The Bounds of Sense. At the heart of Allison’s philosophical inquiry in Kant’s Transcendental Idealism is the intention to rehabilitate idealism in a form acceptable to contemporary analytic philosophy. To better understand the scope and importance of this project, in this article, I propose a recapitulation of the often complex and problematic relationship between the analytic tradition and Kant’s theoretical philosophy.
