Abstract

This article considers the relationship between biodiversity and the Amazonian subjects who lead and resist in favor of the collective use of natural resources, when language and meanings fit into elements of resistance, because they pass through the sacred field. It seeks to understand the uses, meanings and forms of conservation of the Espada de São Jorge (Sansevieria zeylanica) plant by quilombolas from the Benevides community, in Aurora do Pará, Brazil. The work was developed in a comprehensive way in the analysis of quilombola narratives about the Espada de São Jorge plant - under the hermeneutic horizon of Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005). Among the various theoretical cycles deductible in the bibliographic set by the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur, the theoretical-referential aspect of this work privileged that present in the work A Simbólica do Mal (RICOEUR, 2013). Thus, through Ricoeur's symbolic hermeneutics, the Espada de São Jorge power plant is comprehensively analyzed from its expressions in the horizon of community language, of poetic imagination, therefore, in the intercourse of quilombola daily narratives.

Author Biography

Adão Souza Borges, Federal University of Pará

PhD student in Sociology and Anthropology at the Federal University of Pará, by the Postgraduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology (PPGSA), in the research area Territory and Politics, Master in Languages and Knowledge in the Amazon (UFPA / Bragança), graduated in Social Sciences , specialist in Teaching in Higher Education - New Languages and New Approaches (PUC MINAS), specialist in Rural Education, Development and Sustainability (ICED / UFPA), specialist in Languages and Knowledge in the Amazon (UFPA). He works as a collaborating researcher at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi in the project Traditional Communities of Rio Capim. He served as a collaborating professor at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Pará (IFPA), currently serves as a substitute professor at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Campus Bragança and serves as a (effective) professor in the state education network of the Secretariat of Education of the Government of the State of Pará. It operates in the line of research on memory and intercultural knowledge. The author defended his master's dissertation entitled Narratives of Quilombo Remnants: divergences and convergences in the construction of the black identity of Engenho do Calixto in Aurora / PA, by UFPA / 2014, Campus Bragança. He wrote the chapter of the book to be published in the current year called Memories, Narratives and Identities of Remnants of Slaves from Engenho do Calixto (Rio Capim / PA), in press, to be published by the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi.
