Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare social comparison behavior (CCS) among young adults
according to body dissatisfaction (IC) and inappropriate eating behavior (CAI). 563 individuals (276
women) between 1 8 and 35 years of age took part in the study. Mann-Whitney U test was applied to
compare the CCS according to IC and CAI. We identified differences in social comparison behavior
between satisfied and dissatisfied groups, and between with and without inappropriate eating behavior
groups, only among women. We conclude that social comparison behavior is associated with body
dissatisfaction and inappropriate eating behavior in women, which did not occur in men.
