Compreensão de crianças e adolescentes sobre o ambiente de caminhada

Entre 2013 e 2022 crianças e adolescentes, de até 14 anos, morreram em eventos de trânsito no Brasil, mais de 28% deles foram atropelados. Para evitar que mais mortes aconteçam, é necessário que as pesquisas busquem entender o que contribui para que essas situações aconteçam. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo identificar se crianças e adolescentes, de 11 a 13 anos, compreendem e sabem reconhecer um ambiente seguro no trânsito de pedestres. Foram realizadas 46 entrevistas em escolas públicas de Curitiba-PR, utilizando a técnica de modelagem topográfica/topológica, através da estruturação de uma via em maquete com alguns dispositivos de trânsito. Os participantes não souberam estruturar um caminho seguro na maquete, nem mesmo identificar quais as características de um caminho o tornavam mais seguro que os outros. As justificativas para as decisões tomadas neste processo foram insatisfatórias do ponto de vista da segurança dos pedestres. Os resultados mostram que eles não estão preparados para andar sozinhos na rua e podem tomar decisões arriscadas no trânsito.
