Abstract

The aim of this study was to verify the reading strategies scale psychometric properties of university students. 1.038 students from courses of the Administration, Physical Education, Pedagogy, Psychology, Architecture, Computer science, Engineering and Linguistic took part in this study from four private universities in São Paulo, Brazil. The procedure was the collective instrument application. The results showed that the scale has validity and reliability (α= 0.91). The factorial analyses indicated three factors in the scale - global, problem solution and support reading strategies - that explained 35.9% of the amount of variation. It were eliminated ten items with factorial loading under 0.30. The new scale version has 35 items.
