Abstract

The incidence of cancer and new forms of care and treatment of this disease invite the psychologist as a health professional to develop strategies that support the listening of the health-disease process in its uniqueness in different contexts. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the  formation and the performance of the psychologists' oncology network in Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais. We
interviewed 13 professionals from public and private institutions. The results pointed to the need for a
formation that addresses the reality of health services as proposed by public policies, in a social and
collective perspective. The speech of the participants point to the limits and possibilities for the
construction of new knowledge and practices in interventions at the hospital context.
