A DIFUSÃO DA DOUTRINA CATÓLICA EM MINAS GERAIS NO SÉCULO XVIII: ANÁLISE DAS PASTORAIS DOS BISPOS

Resumo

Este artigo trata das cartas pastorais emitidas pelos bispos da diocese de Mariana no século XVIII, especialmente daquelas que permitem perceber a tentativa dos prelados em difundirem a visão de mundo católica nas Minas Gerais, associando a doutrina a temas distintos. Tal visão ancorava-se nas noções de pecado, castigo e penitência, bem como nos lugares do além paraíso, purgatório e inferno.

Abstract

This text deals with pastoral letters issued by the bishops of the Diocesis of Mariana in the eighteen century. The most important are those in which it is clearly perceived they efforts for the diffusion, in Minas Gerais, of the Catholic Church views of the world, associating doctrine to different themes. Those views were based on the notions of sin, punishment and penitence, as well as Paradise, Purgatory and Hell.
