This paper aimed to determine the area and the monetary break-even-point related to the management of rainforests, in business scale, with two cycles of harvesting. The studied data were provided by a company which harvests a rainforest under the scheme of sustainable management, located in Mato Grosso State, Brazil. This company markets logs with the local industries. There were determined the fixed and variable costs and the receipts of the different trade species. After, it was calculated the area and monetary break-even-point, with and without the land opportunity cost. The results showed that the rainforest management demands large areas in order to have economic sustainability. Considering the land opportunity cost, it was noticed a significant increase of the area demanded in order to have equality between costs and receipts.
