Ethics and Integrity in Research
The ethical principles of research involving human beings must be respected. The publication of articles presenting results of research involving humans is subject to compliance with the ethical principles contained in Resolution 510/16 of the National Health Council, which establishes the standards applicable to research in the Human and Social Sciences.
Academic plagiarism: Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors – Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) – Responsibility of the authors. Copying a study or part of it, from another author or even from one’s own publication, constitutes unacceptable fraud and dishonesty. Authors must not use others’ ideas or words without acknowledging the source. The ethical principles of research involving human beings or animal experimentation must be respected. The publication of articles presenting results of research involving humans is subject to compliance with the ethical principles contained in Resolution 510/16 – National Health Council.
Reference to this aspect must appear in the final paragraph of the Methods section of the paper. A copy of the approval document issued by a research ethics committee must be attached. Materials published as submitted articles shall not be used in other research without the authors’ explicit written consent. In case of complaints regarding a submitted or published article, or suspicion of misconduct, the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) flowcharts will be followed.
Corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies will be published whenever necessary, within 30 days from the date of notification of the occurrence. In the event of allegations concerning published manuscripts or suspicion of misconduct, the publication will remain on the website, and an editorial committee will be formed to investigate the allegations within 30 days from the date of the complaint. Once the allegations are confirmed, an erratum will be published with explicit indication of retraction.
To prevent unethical practices, the journal CIÊNCIAS DO CONSUMO requires that, at the time of submission, the corresponding author attach a plagiarism analysis report generated by the CopySpider software. If the manuscript is submitted without the report, the journal will notify the author and archive the submission. The editorial team reserves the right to submit the manuscript to software analysis, even if the report has been provided by the author.
Privacy Policy: Names and addresses provided to this journal will be used exclusively for the services offered by this publication and will not be made available for other purposes or to third parties.
Conflict of interest: To safeguard authors’ rights, the editorial team shall be responsible for:
(a) concealing the authorship of the manuscript during the evaluation and review process;
(b) protecting reviewers’ identities; and
(c) maintaining a neutral and objective standard in the peer-review process.
Manuscripts will be evaluated seeking, as far as possible, to maintain a maximum ratio of 50% external reviewers and 50% internal reviewers from UFPR.
Reviewers must remain impartial when handling each submitted article and judge each one on its merits. Personal criticism is inappropriate.
