Analysis of the value chain of a government agency to support a digital library organization

Introduction: The digital library emerged in the wake of the movement of open archives to disseminate gray literature, or literature that did not go through the traditional process of publication. As a result, Brazilian government agencies started to create their digital libraries to disseminate their technical memory and other documentation. However, the implementation of digital libraries is not a simple task, requiring support to create an organization and representation structure, among other points. Thus, the present work aims to present the value chain as a support tool for the organization of a government digital library. Method: To achieve the objectives, the study uses documental research having as main source the academic google. Results: The studies found that the value chain is a useful tool for several purposes, including mapping the document typology of a government agency, enabling analyzes that support its organization and representation, and facilitating the implementation of digital libraries. Conclusion: Even for information professionals who work in government agencies, having a global view of technical memory is not always simple and requires studies with methods and techniques that the value chain can supply.
