Abstract

In Santa Catarina, daylily production increases significantly. Those are herbaceous, evergreen plants, which have a great use in landscaping. There are many cultivars from this specie, one of them, the Graziela Barroso cultivar is in the market since 2003 year. Although there is a lot of knowledge about Hemerocallis spp. new cultivars, a little is known about their growth variables, when they are submitted to hormonal management. This work aims to study the growth variables (RGC – Crop Growth Rate; RGR – Relative Growth Rate; LAR - Leaf Area Ratio and SLA – Leaf Specific Area) in Hemerocallis hybrida cv. Graziela Barroso submitted to different concentrations (0 mg L-1 (only water); 15 mg L-1 and 30 mg L-1 of GA3) on the summer, autumn and winter of 2005 in Joinville, SC. The sprayings were applied weekly, totalizing 10 applications. Weekly 3 plants/per treatment were picked out for analyzes. There were used 300 plants, that were set up in polyethylene boxes, with 2.8 liters, filled with amendment NPK 10:10:10; chicken excrement; soil and rice bark burned in 1:8:80:100, and they were maintained in a greenhouse with manual irrigation. Data were analyzed according to a completely randomized design with a factorial arrangement of three concentrations and ten applications of GA3. The growth variables didn’t show a significant response to the GA3 application, in the three seasons. The GA3 application cannot be recommended to increase the growth size and rate of Hemerocallis hybrida cv. Graziela Barroso.
