Abstract

There is lack of relative studies to alternative methods of multiplication of fig tree. The objective of the present work went verify to potentiality of the multiplication of the fig tree by root cutting. Root cutting of ‘Roxo de Valinhos’ fig tree, was removed of nurse of one year old, maintained in plastic sacks, filled with sterile and absent nematodes in substrate. The cutting were standardized with 10 cm of length and diameter around 0.3 to 0.5 cm. After  prepare it, the cutting were immerged in different concentrations of indolbutyric acid (IBA): 0, 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 mg L-1, being immerged the cutting in different methods (totally and partially immerged), for 10 seconds. They were totally cutting in the horizontal position, in plastic boxes filled with sand of medium texture with substrate. After 50 days the percentage of dead cutting, rooting, alive and not rooting, sprouted, medium number of sprouts and rootses were evaluated. The concentration of 2000 mg L-1 promoted the best of rooting and larger medium number of rootses for cutting, it is not possible the seedlings production obtaining for that method, due to sprouting absence.
