Resumo

Apresenta-se uma redescrição da broca do mamoeiro, Pseudopiazurus obesus (Boheman, 1838), incluindo pela primeira vez, descrições e ilustrações das peças bucais. Pseudopiazurus papayanus (Marshall, 1922) é considerado sinônimo junior de P. obesus, com base em semelhanças estruturais das peças bucais e genitália de machos e fêmeas.

ABSTRACT

A morphological aspects study of the papaw borer weevil Pseudopiazurus obesus (Boheman, 1838) is given and figured. Data on the mouthparts are presented and illustrated for the first time. Pseudopiazurus papayanus (Marshall, 1922) is considered as a junior synonym of the P. obesus, based on structural similarities of mouthparts, male and female genitalia.

RÉSUMÉ

Le charançon du papayer, Pseudopiazurus obesus (Boheman, 1838), est redécrit et pour la première fois pour ce genre il est rapportée la description et illustration du organe buccal. Pseudopiazurus papayanus (Marshall, 1922) est aussi proposèe comme synonyme junior de P. obesus.
