Heritage interpretation as a way of valuing buildings and tourism development in Lapa (Paraná, Brazil)

Abstract

By heritage interpretation, visitors can have an easier way of visitation, knowing the history of a place, or some important points of it. It means enriching experience of knowledge. This article has as its general objective to identify the forms of heritage interpretation that were being used in Casa da Câmara and Cadeia, Casa Lacerda and Theatro São João, in Lapa, Paraná (Brazil). Its specific objectives were to analyze the content and techniques that were being applied to visitors by heritage interpretation, and draw a parallel between the recommendations that should be implemented to the heritage interpretation in the buildings and the place studied. The research was conducted by a literature review and subsequently it was held field research in Lapa, Paraná, where they were visited and analyzed the buildings mentioned above. Then it was found that those responsible for Casa Lacerda demonstrated to be more careful, in relation to visitation by the mean and interpretive techniques found in this place, and the other two buildings were deficient in this regard. Nevertheless other results were cleared in the text.
