About the Journal
The Journal of Education in Science and Mathematics (RECEM) is an electronic journal with continuous publication, affiliated with the Graduate Program in Education in Science and Mathematics (PPGECM) of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). It publishes original articles focused on the field of Science and Mathematics Education, with the aim of contributing to the dissemination of research conducted by students, teachers, and researchers.
Peer review process:
In order to ensure RECEM’s standard of excellence, submitted articles are initially evaluated by the Editorial Board (desk review) regarding their alignment with the journal’s editorial focus and scope, as well as their contribution to discussion and research in the field of Science and Mathematics Education.
Articles approved in the desk review are sent for evaluation by at least two ad hoc reviewers holding a doctoral degree, from Brazil or abroad, with recognized academic production in the field of evaluation, under the double-blind review system. The anonymity of authors and reviewers is preserved throughout the entire communication process in the Open Journal System (OJS). The criteria guiding the evaluation of manuscripts submitted for peer review include: organization of the text structure; mastery of the scientific literature; fluent, cohesive, and academically appropriate writing; as well as general issues related to the object of study and the theoretical and methodological approaches adopted in the article.
If a significant discrepancy between the reviews is identified, a third evaluation is requested, also under the double-blind review system. The review consists of a brief text with considerations regarding the submission and is recorded in the system. The final decision may be: a) Accepted; b) Mandatory revisions; c) Resubmit for evaluation; d) Submit to another journal; e) Rejected; f) See comments.
The journal will annually publish the names of its ad hoc reviewers.
The standard time frame for completing the review process is expected to be three months.
Periodicity
Continuous publication.
