Abstract

Reading comprehension is an essential ability in the contemporary world. However, a large number of university students lack good comprehension, to take into account the reading demands that exist in this context. Some universities offer in their courses a discipline called Reading Comprehension and Text Production (LPT) which enables university students to refine their reading ability in order to allow for a better comprehension of technical texts. Thus, the objective of this study were to explore the results of the techniques used on students in this discipline were. Thirty-five students from an Administration course in a private University located in the state of São Paulo participated in the study. A text elaborated by Cloze was employed in order to measure reading comprehension ability. Didactic materials which have approached textual gender concepts, filing, summary and review, production conditions, expressive resources, analysis and text comprehension were also adopted. The data suggest a significant improvement in pre and post-test of the students’ text comprehension..
