Abstract

When we analyze the fundamental concepts of psychology, psychotherapy and psychopathology available these days, we realize that in general they are basically committed to the understanding of phenomena through psychodynamic causal links. Psychosomatic in this scenario is considered an analysis of psychological causes acting over body regions, systems and organs involved in pathologies. With Heidegger’s contribution, the somatic sphere is conceived fundamentally as a means of realization of human existence. Therefore, as psychosomatic complaints are a current phenomenon in contemporary clinical practice, we consider our proposition in this article justifiable because, according to it, psychosomatic phenomena are not seen as a functional unbalance in mind-body relations; instead, they are understood as immanent to human existence.
