The scientifical view of Guaraqueçaba, Paraná: diagnostic and critical analysis of scientific production related to the county.

Abstract

The county Guaraqueçaba, located at the north coast of Paraná State, has been scenery in the last decades of an enormous interest by the scientific community, due to its ecological and social-cultural peculiarities. The aim of the present work is to present a bibliographical survey about the scientific production related to the region of Guaraqueçaba and finally to develop a brief critical analysis an the qualitative aspects of the referred production. 109 scientific publications related to 67 research projects were identified, enclosing the period from 1979 to 2005, on different knowledge areas, among which geology, landscape ecology, biological diversity, anthropology, culture, sustainable development, social-economy, history and interfaces. The critical analysis consisted on visiting the research places and its results: the omission of researchers on explanations around the aims of their researches and the lack of knowledge feed back from researchers, which causes a frustration feeling and distrust of the local people, undesirable consequence for the advance of the studies in the region.
