The aim of the article is to show that the formation of William Hazlitt as a critic was closely connected with certain events arising from the French Revolution, thus suggesting some sort of nexus between these two apparently unrelated phenomena. Hazlitt conceived as plastic language not only as a reference to written prose and poetry but also as a medium of expression more universal than politics, although it is in the political terrain that it can become freely available to be duly interpreted and appropriated by the artistas well as the writer.
