Theoretical study aiming to correlate the following nursing theories: Wanda Hortas Basic Human Needs Theory, Dorothea Orems Self-care Theory, and Adaptation Calista Roys Adaptation Theory to the rehabilitation process of people with suffering from spinal cord injury. The definition of a theoretical landmark is a complex process but also essential for the quality of nursing care rendered to these patients who face the need for independence recovery, social readaptation and mental health re-establishment. Thus, the decision to ground their nursing practice on nursing theories is very important to rehabilitation nurses.
