“GIRL GANGS ARE THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE” REPRESENTAÇÕES E CONSTRUÇÃO DE IDENTIDADES LÉSBICAS NA IMPRENSA ALTERNATIVA ESTADUNIDENSE ENTRE 1950 E 1990

Este trabalho tem como objetivo observar a multiplicidade de discursos e representações que buscavam compreender a existência e a identidade lésbica na sociedade estadunidense ao longo das décadas de 1950 a 1990. Para tal, analizaram-se as revistas The Ladder, Sisters e The Lesbian Tide, bem como os cartazes e folhetins produzidos pelos grupos ACTUP e Lesbian Avengers, evidenciando o papel fundamental desempenhado pela mídia impressa independente no processo de formação da identidade lésbica e na criação de um senso de comunidade. Além disso, tais materiais possibilitaram que uma pluralidade de vozes lésbicas fossem ouvidas através de produções que tocassem nas questões de gênero, sexualidade e organização política, bem como facilitaram o surgimento de novas conexões e o fortalecimento cultural e intelectual da comunidade lésbica como um todo.
