Abstract

A história referente às realizações geodésicas no Brasil, tem registrado sucessivas mudanças de referenciais geodésicos com épocas de concepção distintas entre si. Os referenciais distintos marcam o que pode ser denominado de geração geodésica dos Sistemas Geodésicos de Referência (SGR) em função dos seus caracteres diferenciados do ponto de vista científico e tecnológico. Estes aspectos implicam na necessidade da parametrização da transformação de coordenadas entre diferentes gerações de SGRs. Porém, por diversas razões no Brasil, a transformação nem sempre pode ocorrer de forma adequada. Assim, os documentos cartográficos brasileiros devem ser submetidos a uma análise referente à geração geodésica a que pertencem e, dependendo da finalidade dos seus usos, devem ser avaliados a respeito da compatibilidade entre os SGRs utilizados na realização dos documentos, evidenciando compatibilidades e limitações com os referenciais de geração mais atual.

Compatibility evaluation of Geodetic Reference Systems in Brazil

Abstract

Different geodetic realizations in Brazil have changed the geodetic references along different periods of time. There differences can define what it is proposed here to name geodetic generations of the Geodetic Reference Systems (GRS). Each geodetic generation is defined according to its scientific e technological development related to every historical period of time. The different characteristics of every geodetic generation demand modeling the coordinates transformation between two different GRS. However, due to several reasons, sometimes those transformations cannot be developed under suitable conditions. Therefore, the Brazilian cartographic documents must be analyzed according to their geodetic generation, that is, the GRS used at the time the cartographic documents were generated. Besides, when some cartographic document is to be generated based on different GRS, the compatibility between those GRS must also be evaluated, in order to make their limitations and compatibilities clear in relation to the most modern generation of GRS.
