Introduction: The aim of this work is to understand the evolution and current state of scientific production regarding the pairing of assessment and ICT. Method: For this purpose, prestigious international reference databases WOS and SCOPUS were used. The search was conducted without historical or geographical restrictions in both databases. The data obtained, 4,296 publications and 1,759 authors, were analyzed using pyBibX and Gephi. Results: The results allowed us to discern both the authors and institutions of reference, as well as the most relevant themes, and the general historical evolution of their interest in terms of production. Conclusions: It concludes by recognizing the growing vigor of the issue in recent years, partly driven by external conjunctural factors, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, but also by the rapid development of technologies applicable to education or the increasing weight of new international actors, such as China.
