About the Journal
Focus and scope
Studia Kantiana is the scientific journal of the Brazilian Kantian Society, affiliated since 2021 with the Graduate Programme in Philosophy at the Federal University of Paraná. It is dedicated exclusively to the philosophy of Immanuel Kant and is aimed at a specialised audience, including advanced students and researchers.
The journal publishes original scientific contributions on Kant, following a rigorous peer-review process and high academic standards. Published quarterly since 2016, Studia Kantiana brings together the leading Brazilian research in the field and also welcomes contributions from international scholars.
History of the journal
Studia Kantiana is the journal of the Brazilian Kant Society. It was founded at the 2nd Brazilian Kant Congress, held in 1998 in the city of Itatiaia, RJ. The first issue was published in September of that year. It was published in print until 2011. Since then it has been exclusively virtual. In 2021, the journal became part of the Digital Journal Library of the Federal University of Paraná.

Publication Ethics and Misconduct Policy
The journal adheres to ethical principles based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ensuring integrity, transparency and responsibility in scientific research.
- Responsibilities of Authors
- Submit original, clear and verifiable work, avoiding plagiarism, fabrication or data manipulation.
- Ensure that all authors have contributed significantly and declare any conflicts of interest.
- Promptly report any serious errors for correction, retraction, or withdrawal of the article.
- Responsibilities of Editors
- Assess manuscripts impartially, maintaining confidentiality and respecting authors’ independence.
- Ensure a fair and impartial peer review process conducted by qualified experts.
- Address suspected misconduct in accordance with COPE recommendations, requesting corrections or retracting publications when necessary.
- Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Evaluate manuscripts objectively based on their scientific expertise.
- Report any suspected misconduct and withdraw from reviewing if there is a conflict of interest or inability to provide an impartial assessment.
- Conflicts of Interest
- Editors, reviewers, and authors must declare and avoid any conflicts of interest that could compromise the evaluation or publication of the work.
Open Access Policy
Following the principle that free access to scientific knowledge promotes the global democratisation of information, this journal adopts the open access model. All content is freely available at no cost to individuals or institutions.
Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, and use them for any lawful purpose, without prior permission from the editor or author. This open access policy is aligned with the guidelines of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
Open access contributes to increasing the visibility, readership, and citation of published works. Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their works and grant the journal the right of first publication. Published articles are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0).
This licence allows third parties to share and adapt the content, provided that proper attribution is given to the authors and the original publication in the journal, a link to the licence is included, and any modifications are indicated.
Authors have the right to reuse their works in other publications, including archiving the post-print (final PDF version from the publisher) in institutional or thematic repositories, promoting greater circulation, visibility, and potential increase in academic citations.
Finally, the journal does not charge submission or publication fees.
Generative Artificial Intelligence Use Policy
Studia Kantiana allows the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, provided that the principles of authorship, originality, and transparency are respected.
Permitted Uses
Authors may use generative AI tools for:
- Grammatical and stylistic revision
- Text translation
- Organisation and structuring of already developed ideas
- Reformulation of sentences or paragraphs
- Spelling and formatting verification
Non-Permitted Uses
The use of generative AI is not permitted for:
- Generation of substantive content (arguments, analyses, philosophical interpretations)
- Creation of fictitious data, citations, or references
- Replacement of human authorship in the development of central ideas
- Paraphrasing of third-party works to avoid plagiarism detection
Mandatory Declaration
Authors must explicitly declare if they have used generative AI tools, specifying:
- The tool used (name and version)
- The specific purpose of use
- The parts of the manuscript in which it was used
Example: "The authors used ChatGPT (GPT-4) for grammatical revision of the English text. All argumentative content was developed entirely by the authors."
Responsibilities
- Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and quality of the manuscript
- AI tools cannot be listed as authors
- The journal may use AI-generated content detection tools
- Inappropriate or undeclared use of AI may result in rejection or retraction of the article
Digital preservation
Studia Kantiana is committed to the long-term digital preservation of all its content, ensuring permanent access to published works.
All journal content is preserved in the Digital Library of Periodicals of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), which uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) and maintains regular backups with data redundancy. The journal also participates in the LOCKSS. (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) network, an international distributed digital preservation system.
All published articles receive a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), ensuring permanent identification and stable location of publications. Articles are made available in PDF/A format, the international standard for long-term archiving of electronic documents.
The journal uses standardised metadata compatible with international interoperability protocols (OAI-PMH), facilitating the indexing and preservation of content in national and international repositories.
In the event of journal discontinuation, all content will remain accessible through UFPR institutional repositories.
